Here is my
![]() ‘81 swartzmetalic. If you look it up, it was an option on ‘80 and ‘81 cars and was available on some later cars. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

To date, there are 837 replies spanning 42 pages on this "black coupe pictures" thread. Including mine.
https://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/188220-black-911-coupes-some-proud-pictures.html IMHO, black was an extremely common color for the 1980's 911 cars, and the popularity of that color continued to today. A bit of research may be able to determine the number of 911 units sold by year and by color. Perhaps one of the many knowledgeable visitors to this site already has that information available. Black is pretty common, but Schwarz Metallic is less so in my opinion. It is more of a titanium look, and definitely less black. My 1979 Targa is that color, and I saw a 1981 SC coupe that color at a show recently. Rennbow site shows two paint cans (5 paint cans is for the rarest colors), but I think it is less common than that: https://rennbow.org/porsche-colors/BlackMetallic
Here is my Targa. Sorry, off the road, so not a beauty shot. ![]() ![]() Mark
