Is it worth considering the Celette fixtures from Restoration Design or Eckert ?

Dear Friends,

We have the Celette bench and the proper MZ towers in our workshop. But, unfortunately the 911 fixtures aren’t available to rent over here. And, the local Celette distributor ( a large company) is not very helpful to temporarily import the fixtures from France.

I have noticed that Restoration Design and also Sportwagen-Eckert ( from Germany ) has made copies of the fixtures. RD’s one seems to be a direct copy of the Celette’s own fixtures and goes on to Celette’s MZ towers where as Eckert apparently made their own style and can not be used with MZ towers.
Eckert’s fixtures seems to be mainly used for attaching panels rather than accident repairs, heavy pulling etc.

So, as the title suggests, I was wondering if especially the Restoration Design’s Celette fixtures could be an viable/logical option versus the Celette’s own fixtures.
There is a significant price difference between the RD and Celette.

Regards
Kerem

If you are going to be doing them on a regular basis then yes. Personally if I would want the RD or Celette fixtures so I could use the towers. I have used a Celette day in day out in the past at two of my former jobs, and while not my favorite bench to do pulling, they are excellent for verifying that something is pulled correctly. The fixtures also help with seeing what is going on with damage. The plus is that you can accurately replace structural panels as well.
If you can afford it and the work is there then I would say it's a good idea. Just my 2 cents.

Hi Kerem,
I can't advise you regarding which way to go. All I can say is when it came time to restore my '71 914-6, I definitely wanted it on a Celette bench to make sure everything was square and within specifications. To me that is the foundational step in a restoration. Good luck and I hope you find/acquire the fixtures you need. Michael

Hi Chris,
Exactly, I would definitely prefer to use a fixture system based on the MZ towers since I already have the towers. But, I am wondering if RD ones are well produced, accurate fixtures or not.
Due to occasional work on 911s, I am kind of trying to avoid the cost of Celette fixtures if RD ones are perfectly acceptable.
Thank you.
Kerem

Hi Michael,
Exactly, we are used to work on the Celette when building/restoring Escorts, Fiats from scratch but I don’t have the 911 fixtures and they are not available to rent over here. So, as I have mentioned I am trying assess if Celette alternative fixtures from RD is good or not.
Thank you
Kerem

Absolutely but I am quite sure that I won’t be able to sell them over here and the initial import cost will increase my cost which I will have to make a hefty discount when offering to international market.
