Engine Block Oil Pressure Line slightly damp
 

Where the fitting joins the two parts of this oil line, there is some dampening and slight presence of oil. Not much, but it is sweating.

This is a $214 part... is it safe to leave it alone, or could it fail catastrophically and dump all of my oil on the road?

Well, if it was me, I would not be penny wise and pound foolish. :eek:

I would buy the $214 part to prevent the $10,000 rebuild! :confused:

OK. Point made. I wasnt sure if this is a normal issue or not.

Truthfully, I am not sure but oil leaks on pressure lines normally do not go away on their own.

Are you sure it is the line and not a drip from above? No sense spending money only to find you did not fix the problem.

Yeah...its just a slight moisture around the fitting. In the PPI, they said it wasnt an urgent issue but should ultimately be replaced.

First to do is clean with degraser the oil in the fittings, and all the you will find oil. Then run the car and check is they are evidence of oil in the fittings that you clean. This is to discard tha the oil came from another place. If all is ok. And you problem is that the oil pressure drops. Try to do this. Remove the oil from the engine. Than go to the safety oil pressure valve and the oil pressure valve. That valves are the 2 big flat-screwdriver-style plug on the engine. One is going in the rear center of the block and the other is in the left side of the block. Take out these plugs and you will find a spring and a piston. To get a higher oil pressure use a small flat washer and put in the plug. This apply to both. Then put it back into the block and tightening. Some times this are not easy but not impossible. Add the oil, start the engine and enjoy a higher oil pressure.

Thanks Nitro. The oil pressure is fine + there is no evidence on the pavement of any actual oil droplets....just a little sweating on that fitting.

Im gonna clean it up with degreaser as you suggested and take a closer look.

If so, this isn't a $214 line...much cheaper, like $15-$20, either the horizontal or vertical component.

No, thats not what Im talking about. This oil line is under the engine and to the right.
