1986 Targa door lock issue
Not sure what’s up. When door is closed I can manually use the knob to lock and unlock doors. So everything works when door closed on inside. Soon as I get out and try to lock the button will not operate when door open and the key in the door does nothing. I can hear an actuator working but the lock does not move. Same with the pass door. Ideas?

The doors are designed to not lock with the door open. you will need to have the door closed to lock either way; using the knob on the interior or with the key from the outside.

When inside the car with doors closed and ignition on, can you also lock and unlock doors with the central button on console?
When using this button, you should clearly hear the actuators on bock sides and see the tits going up and down.

I just had that happen to me. There is an arm with a ball joint that connects from actuator to lock. The ball joint is made of plastic and broke from being old and brittle. You will have to take off the door panel to access the arm to replace. The part is relatively cheap. Replacing was not too hard just a little time consuming.

Thx for tips. I should have been more specific. Yeah I have the door closed when these issues present. The lock button is lit up and works but niether door locks or unlocks I can hear actuator working but nothing. And the key in door does nothing. Can hear actuator. But nothing.
