1973 Brake Indicator Light Burns Continuously
Brake indicator light burns (dimly) while driving. Blinks normally when E-brake is on and flashes with the turn signal indicators.
Haven’t torn into the dash yet but have perused the schematic and have no clue. Can anyone help? |

Things I’d check…
Could be weakened or old battery, check running voltage and when off to see if it’s holding a charge. Do you have a float in the brake fluid reservoir? Check inside for contaminants and clean, and fluid level. Handbrake level switch could be misaligned and loose or the contact band is broken off and randomly touching the contacts whenever you hit a bump. That was my problem. |

The switch on the handbrake is daisy chained with the master cylinder failure switch.
It Could be a failing switch on your master cylinder. Pull the electrical connector on the master cylinder. See if the light goes out.
