oil hole thread size question

Working on a 79 3.0. The threads on the tapped hole on the right side case that feed the oil pressure transducer, cam, and tensioner are damaged. I will need to chase the threads with a properly sized tap. Can anyone tell me the thread size to order? I tried various gauges that I have and it seems it could be something like 12x1.0
Thanks in advance for your help!

Garage
Thru-bolt……..

Were you referring to this one? The thru-bolt is M12 x 1.0.

Hopefully it's just the threads, and the case wasn't cracked when someone tried to remove the oil pressure transducer on the car.

You might be better off with a thread chaser. Or at least make sure you get an "end tap" that has the shorter tapered section. The long taper on a regular tap might render it of limited usefulness in fixing your threads.

^^^ +1 this.

A tap is sharp/hard and intended to cut & remove metal - to put a thread where there wasn't one.

Thread chaser is softer & designed to roll/reform the metal that's there to the correct profile without removing any.
