Help identify these Fuchs wheels color

Im planning to have my wheels powered coated in all black but before doing it Im curious about my current color which seems to be a satin/semi-gloss black with blueish tint.

The wheels are original Fuchs but the codes on the back don't seem to reveal the color.

I wonder if it was a paint job done by the POs. Also the center cap is made of metal but in silver. Is it possible that they were originally like that?

If you powdercoat wheels, please ensure it's low temp powdercoat. I ignored years of forum admonitions to avoid powdercoating wheels and had three of four forged wheels (not Fuchs) crack, each in multiple places.

Admittedly, not Fuchs but the wheels weren't 35+ years old either...

Color matched Fuchs were an option.

Paint has lasted what, 35 years? I wouldn't powder coat.

1982 allegedly. I have no idea if the POs bought it separately. I cannot find examples of this color. It doesnt seem to be pitch black. But i cant find 911 bodies to be that blue-black

Thanks for the advice ill think about it…

Francesco -- I believe that your wheels were originally black and have faded over time to the blue/black you're now seeing. Also suspect that the silver painted center caps and bolts were added/substituted by a PO. My original 16x6 / 16x7 Fuchs had faded to about the same color as yours. You can also look into plastidip as a quick/easy/temporary way to switch your wheels to all black.

That looks to me like an original black center that has faded over time.

No to me. Seems too shiny (and thick?). original black fades dark grey and matte. I'd bet on color match to the body.

Consider using Cerakote Cobra Black.

Yeah, I think you're right (as I remember my own car's faded centers)

thanks to all feedback. Im gonna post-pone the powder coating…

I would be also interested in the opposite: removing the paint completely in the early 70s style

To clarify i really don’t love the difference of tint, even if it’s not super noticeable i really want to either make them all black or all silver (clear)

If they're painted, stripping the paint is not difficult.
The question is how they were finished originally. Some strip to bare anodised alloy without issue, some others have incredibly resistant (black anodised?) finish.
One way to find out...

[QUOTE=Shaun @ Tru6;12268184]Consider using Cerakote Cobra Black.

Those are gorgeous! If and when I paint my wheels again, I'll consider this. Is this a paint requiring oven baking, I.E. high temp curing?

Thanks Mike, it does. The application spec says 500ºF but talking with Cerakote extensively and doing some testing, I go to 450 and have had no reported failures.

The problem with your question is we do not know what your camera settings are, specifically, the white balance. To me, yours is too cool, casting a blue hue into your blacks.

After a little tweaking you can "recast" the "lighting" and change the perception.

Look like regular black wheels to me.

your answer is irrelevant.

Im not asking you to determine the color from the photo. I already know the wheels have a blue tint and they do not match the LP041 black color of the body or the classic black matte fuchs.

Then what was the point of posting your photo and asking opinions? FO
