clutch issue on 1977 911s

I noticed getting into 1st gear can be difficult on rare occasions.
the car is still drivable.
Do I need to adjust the clutch cable? or something else?

Adjust the pedal stop back a little bit. See if that helps. Takes a 4mm Allen wrench

Rolling to shift into first gear or stopped in traffic or both?
Try check the condition of the shift rod bushing by pulling up the boot and peer thru the inspection hole. You’ll be able to see if it’s broken which is common, if never replaced, get a ball cup bush too. The more they wear out the more the adjustment wanes, same with shift coupler if never replaced.

EC900's questions about when you're having the issues are important. I typically never shift into 1st rolling to a stop.

But to jump to quick, cheap, fixes/checks:

Second the rod bushing, and/or the cup bushing. My SC was tough to get into 1st, and I replaced the cup bushing--night and day difference getting into gear--$18 bucks for shift bushing set through our host. Takes 15 minutes to put in the cup bushing, about 30-45 if you're doing the shift rod at same time. Steps are below.

Someone else will chime in with more, but this is a start.

Third on checking the shift rod cup, bushing, and coupler. If they are still original, and they're not loose, they will be very soon. Replace them. It may not fix your problem, but it will de-complicate solving your problem.
