Cooking salmon on an '86 911 exhaust system

Hi All- This was relatively straightforward to accomplish- I estimated 2-3 minutes for the catalytic converter to come to full temp.

The completely deadpan delivery really makes it work - it almost sounds like he's serious about this...

Love it!

I'm going to do this tomorrow night since we need to get going on the 250 lbs of spring salmon in the freezer from this summer's fishing season. As my buddy said when I sent him the video "versatile cars, ours 911's" Cheers!

Alton Brown was a guest on a Mythbusters episode where they tested a myth that a full Thanksgiving meal could be cooked in an engine bay. Don't recall the actual car used -believe it was a domestic large displacement car - maybe a Chevy or Buick. Anyway - they got the car up to operating temperature on a test drive and took temp readings of areas in the engine bay. Alton did his magic coming up with a menu and planned where each food item would be placed in the bay. They executed the plan and were successful with cooking the meal.

Here is the episode info from IMDB:

Volvo owners used to be big on cooking "under the hood" Would get a can of soup or spaghetti or ravioli and just put it on the manifold before a trip. When you got to your destination, just open the can and you'd have a warm meal waiting for you. Is no joke; just being smart and thrifty.

This is so hilarious! You have great taste in cars AND food!

I have the twin to your car but with a tail and without the sport seats. I may need to try making some fajitas on mine....

Home Depot used to have them, but no more. Now, believe it or not, I get them at Harbor Freight.
