fuel pump in a 78SC
Hello guys
I'm troubleshooting a 78 SC for a friend of mine : fuel pump does run only when key is on starter position, is it normal ? thanks for your help Philippe

The fuel pump will only run in start, then continue pumping if the engine is running. You can bypass this by jumpering the fuel pump relay so it runs continuously.

Yes, jrwilson is right.
Intention: A security feature to stop flooding the (hot) engine compartment to prevent a fire in case of an accident when engine is stalled ... There are many CIS 911 out there where fuel pump runs when in ingnition on position. This is not correct! There is a greenish terminal on the backside of the sensor plate housing, this is the repsonsible contact. When you unplug it, the fuel pump will also start running in ignition on position, and not as designed in starting position only. This is the named terminal/switch:  What's the matter? Starting issues? Thomas

if someone has bypassed the air plate sensor, there is another problem they are masking.

and is there any sensor that prevents from starting engine (starting is uneven on this car) wiring is correct, ground is correct, relays are correct ...
