wheel spacers

Have an 82 911 SC lowered to euro height with stock size tire/wheels. Want to fill gap between tire and fender a little on the rear. Thinking a 1" spacer would do it without any mods required. Would this lower the rear end? Thoughts or suggestions? Who makes quality spacers? Think I need in front too to balance the look out? Thanks!

Have heard "Euro height" mentioned number of times... what exactly is the measure Golfbud? Not sure spacers work in the front due to pivot point of wheels. Someone will know for sure.

Spacers definitely work on the rear and to solve my challenge I only had to apply them to the rear. I'm not sure why they wouldn't work on the front however.

I found them on eBay, used a 15mm spacer. They appeared to be quality aluminum billet material, nicely machined with a wheel centering disk.

Now here is the trick: You'll probably need new wheel lugs. On my '73 the lugs are a standard 45mm. Adding 15mm required a 59 or 60mm wheel lug. I could not find a 60mm wheel lug anywhere in the USA and finally ordered them from Great Britain. Your requirements may be different but adding a ~26mm (1 inch) spacer has to be taken into account in your wheel lug length. BTW, punching the old lugs out of your wheels is a real b---h! Have to remove the caliper and use a special tool.

Good luck

Tom

PS: I had to add the spacers so the wheels would clear a hausgemacht oil line. 15mm was enough to clear the lines but too much to not interfere with the fender lip so I had them rolled. Looks OK. Just be mindful that adding spacers can cause other things to occur!

typically known as a 944/951 vendor, Lindsey Racing has a number of lengths available and open (steel) nuts. you will definitely need longer studs (unless they are in place already) when adding 25mm/1" spacers.

adding spacers will not lower the rear of the vehicle. not sure how they could.

I assume you have 7" Fuchs in the back? If so, H&R makes quality "hub-centric" spacers in 28mm that have wheel studs pressed in to them. I would definitely stick to a well known brand.

Our host carry's them

I have these exact ones on my '88 911, fills the wheel well out nicely. Here's a shot where my suspension is loaded to give you an idea of how much it fills it. Stock tire size on 16x7's. No, they do not effect your ride height what so ever.

Maybe I'm missing something but the majority of the spacers sold on eBay are by an outfit called Hub-Centric and for two spacers are about 1/5 of the price of our host. It's your money!

I dont know the ebay spacers your referring to but do they have studs pressed in to them like the H&R's so you dont have to replace the ones in your hub with new extra long ones, or are they just a spacer and nothing else? I wouldnt want to buy spacers that have studs pressed in them that are of a unknown origin/quality/country. Here is what all comes in the H&R I linked to. Yes, you can also find these cheaper but I figured I'd give Pelican a plug first.

I have an '83 SC and I put 1"spacers on the back at first with 7" Fuchs. Just one month ago I found 21 mm spacers on here, and swapped them out. I intend to lower the rear to the euro height and it looked like the 1" spacers put the tire just to close to the fender. Either way, they both give much better appearance.......it's time to lower. I might put the common 7 mm spacers up front.

discseven - good question. My SC is 25" from floor to the fender lip measured thru the center of the wheel for both front and rear. No problems bottoming out but might look a tad better a little lower. Just called it euro height but others here might know.

Thanks for everyone's response to the spacer question.

Golfbud.... at 25" you do have room to lower. My measures with 8 and 9" wheels. Hard to see wheel well fill but rears could use 3/4" spacer. (Uneven rear measures are not due to corner balancing.)

These are similar to what I purchased, without studs. Recall I got my 60mm studs from Great Britain. Both spacers and studs of exceptional quality:

Hub Centric Wheel Spacers Adapters 5x130 71 5 CB 14x1 5 Studs 15mm Euro | eBay

It comes down to a matter of choice and basic economics as far as I am concerned.

Thinking of doing the H&R 28mm stud in spacers for my 81 SC in the rear. How about the front? What size spacer are people running on the front?

I run 944 factory spacers #477501701 with longer studs. They are 21mm. Its a more permanent and safer solution than the bolt on ones. My car is a widebody they are double stacked on the rear with 8" wheels and 7s in the front. Its run like this since the 80s
