Targa to Cab Kit
Awhile back Ron at RKR was selling a kit to convert a Targa to a Cab. RKR has since closed its doors, and Ron mentioned he was selling the rights to the kit to another company.
Does anyone know who is now producing this kit, or if there is another manufacture with a kit like this? Thanks, Brian Minson Publisher 9, The DIY Porsche Magazine http://www.9magazine.com |

A Targa to Cab conversion should be done with Factory parts and a Factory top. There is even a Factory manual detailing the process. All the aftermarket top conversions I've seen were rather J.C. Whitney looking. JMHO

I thought RKR's kit was rather clever, but it didn't sell...

I saw them do the demo a while back at Tw**ks Funfest; they converted a yellow mid-70s targa into a cab. They attached the "speedster" look device as a tonneau and I always thought a vinyl or other cloth would look better (and more convincing). I've never really felt the need to go to a cab. For instance, I don't know about other Targa owners' "wingspan," but yesterday I removed and folded the top on mine at a stop light without budging from the driver's seat. I couldn't do that with a manual top in a cab

Actually my '72 has a ('86 and later style) manual top, and I can drop it at a stoplight in about 3 seconds.

I can get my cab top down at a stop light.....two latches and ZING...toss it back. If it does not lay flat, the wind will make sure it does....sure does a job on my passenger's "combover"....
