Intensive cleaning function

Tomorrow morning I'm going to try and tackle the dreaded windsheild washer problem. After combing tons of posts in the archives looking for info, I saw mention of trying the "intensive cleaning function" - what is this? How do you do it?
Thanks.

It's a separate reservoir (located on the right of the luggage compartment looking in on RHD cars) which is filled with high strength screenwasher fluid. Button on the dash (I'm not even going to try and say where it would be on a LHD car) pumps this strong fluid through washers instead of highly diluted fluid which normally comes through them - cleans windshield better.

When you dismantle your washers you will see they are, in fact, two parallel systems, one for normal and one for intensive, with their own valves etc.

And if you have the intensive system, make sure all four check valves are working properly. A leaky one will allow fluid to back up in the other system.

Any suggestions for what "fluid" to use in the intensive system?

Truck drivers put alcohol in their washer reservoirs.

I know Porsche sells some special product for the what I call "racing reservoir." I do something like what the truckers do: 1qt bottle of alcohol into the reservoir and fill the rest of the way up with regular washer fluid.

Cool, never thought of that. When I was a teenager, we just hid the bottle under the seat.
