Throttle Body - broken vaccuum line

Hello. I have been chasing a cold start idle issue for months. After experimenting with borrowed WUR and AAR, I finally did a smoke test and found that the vaccuum line on the throttle body had broken off. See pics. Clearly, PO had tried to epoxy it back but did not hold.

How is this supposed to be connected in there? Has anybody seen this before and fixed it? Would it be better to find a used throttle body or try and repair again.

If you can remove and clean up the old epoxy glue on the metal piece, another coat of JBWeld could do the trick. The hardest part of the job is the removal of the old epoxy on the tube. Or look for a good used throttle body (‘81~’83) SC.

There have been several clean used throttle bodies for sale here just lately. That’s the way I would go.

Another question: I did find a decent used throttle body on Ebay but it does not have the Throttle Position Switch. It looks like the mounting of the switch to the throttle body is adjustable. Would it be safe to swap and position it at the same angle or would there be some kind of adjustment needed? Can't find anything on this in the manual. Taking out the throttle body is not an operation I would like to repeat.

What year is your SC?
1980 and 1981-1983 do come with diff. Throttle Position Sensors.

1980 = PartNo° 930 606 119 00 --------> contact 1= when leaving Idle & contact 2 = 35° throttle pos.
1981-83 = PartNo° 930 606 119 01 ----> contact 1= 15° & contact 2 = 35° throttle pos. (signal for leaving idle is here provided by the micro switch)

It's a 1981. The TPS conductivity test checks out ok for the #2 and #3 terminals at the two angles. I suppose I can approximate the angle with the two set screws withn a couple of degrees.

This.

Not sure how long epoxy holds up here.

Why not just clean the old glue off and jb it back in place? Probably last for years.

Thank you for the feedback. I decided to put the repaired throttle body back in rather than the ebay one. I finally have a normal start and (what I assume is) normal performance. Onwards to more fun projects!

The other thing is that it could start leaking again before you notice aberrant effects and that's definitely non ideal for the engine.

Looking through documents it was likely done in 2008, 10,000 miles ago. I think it was poorly done.
