915 clutch pedal dropped, clutch fork broken ?
Heard a pop when the pedal dropped. Clutch still engages with no free play as the TOB moves, inspected via the top port but the short arm gap is zilch which correlates with the lack of free play. Tried adjusting the gap but the shorter arm simply moves to close the gap. Pic below is after a couple turns to back out the bolt.
Lower clutch fork busted ? Something gave way. If that is the case, it's interesting that the clutch still works single armed. Given the upper fork is still intact, doesn't that stop the short arm from rotating ? ![]() ![]() Engine drop time ? Last edited by pmax; 11-01-2023 at 11:51 PM.. |

First thing to check is the roll pin that holds the pedal to the pedal cluster to see if maybe it sheared off.

Clutch pedal seems OK as far as I can tell.

pull back hard and see it the whole thing(cross shaft) moves and if the position of the clutch pedal has changed..if not ,most likely clutch job..

Clutch helper spring? Can't see from the pic. I've broken several over the years. Usually goes with a metal sounding "POP" and the pedal only returns about half way up.
Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions.
Took some pictures of the linkage. This is the "rest" position. Clutch pedal can be pulled back a tad further which moves the linkage as such. Depressing the clutch does this. ![]() Any ideas ? Last edited by pmax; 11-26-2023 at 04:35 PM.. |

I think you're on the money. Omega spring doesn't look right. The "pop" could have been its last gasp. Perhaps it's time for a backdate. |

Well, turns out the "pop" was simply the omega spring releasing back to rest state.
Rearmed it and the clutch pedal is now back up. Greased the contraption up, reinstalled and if this happens again, I guess a new omega spring is next. Kudos to the Stuttgart geniuses who engineered the system so that the clutch still operates fine even without the omega spring in play. Thanks to all those who chimed in. Surely I'm not the first to encounter this. Stay tuned. |

abides.

If you're replacing the omega spring, check the small bracket that holds the end of the cable housing at the transmission. If it's beat up, i'd suggest replacing it.

"At rest" ... corresponding to the first pic in this thread and the first pic of the linkage.
