1982 SC crushed jack point
A friend of mine has an issue with his 82 SC Targa and asked for my opinion. I have a fair amount of longhood and 964 experience, but I'm not sure about this one and hopefully I can get some input.
The issue is several years ago his car rolled off his driveway and over a steep embankment. The apex/pivot point hit right at the driver side jack point, stopped there and crushed the rocker and jack tube in an inch or so (sorry no pictures). I'm guessing fixing this would be pretty involved to get it straight again and get the jack tube square again. I'm also concerned what it may have done to the unibody alignment. Any thoughts?

Hard to say w/o any pictures...
In general - this is one of the most sensible points of the 911 body... Don't know of there's a chance to rebuild it, the tube is available as a repair part: https://www.eurospares.co.uk/Porsche/911/911_(1989)/PartDiagrams/801-020/INNER_PANEL?ref=35 I would conserve it first if there are scratches to prevent corrosion which is the final boss at that part of the body. Best is to replace and restore it. Thomas

I don’t have any experience with this but Mike (Rennch) tackled a damaged jack point in one of his videos… worth a watch just to see the innards

https://youtu.be/YTta0a0aBEY?si=tO7YMzbOrJnxqCsL The video was helpful. I'm guessing at a minimum this will require cutting out and replacing the damaged length of outer rocker and correcting/replacing the jack tube.

Really, the Renntech video is way over the top for this situation.
Firstly, you need to remove the outer rocker cover to really tell what kind of damage you actually have. So, take the screws out of the black end caps, and literally pull the black rubber out of the channel to reveal the additional philips head screws to be removed. Then go underneath the rockers and remove the screws that hold it to the lower portion, there should be some white plastic spacer that will drop-out.. nothing to be alarmed about. Now you should be able to see the extent of the damage which I believe may be pulled-out with a stud gun.
