Help High beams and fog lights

My high beams and fog lights do not work.

When I turn on my fog lights the blue indicator light on the tach comes on. But the fog lights do not come on. Also there is no power on the fuse panel for the fog lights. But it gives power to the high beams fuses. To add I ran a lead wire from number 86 on the relay to the fog light and was able to get them to come on and off with the switch. Is it a bad relay? Is the blue indicator light on the tach suppose to come on when fog lights are on?

When I use the stalk for the high beams the blue indicator light comes on the tach. Also I get power on the high beams fuses. But the high beams don’t work.

I have checked all the wiring on the fuse panel and it looks correct.

The blue light on the tach should be for your high beams. And usually fog lights are designed to be off when running high beams. Try having your headlight low beams on and re-test the fog lights. If the high beams aren't working and the blue light is staying on, maybe the switch on your steering column needs some attention?

Fog lights typically turn off when high beams are on. It’s the law in most places - fog lights operate with parking lights and low beams only.

I understand that the fog lights don’t come on with the high beams on. Also I was wondering about the blue light indicator. I know it is suppose to come on with high beams in use but not sure if it is suppose to come on with fog light in use. The reason why I am asking is because I wonder if the fog lights and high beams are crossed some how. That is why they are both not working. Would the headlight switch going bad cause this issue?

The blue light shouldn't be on for the fog lights. It's been a while since I've had operational fog lights in my car but I think the only indication for the fog lights is on the fog light switch itself.

Do your fog lights work when your headlight low beams are on? If not, I'd think the issue might be more fog light relay than headlight switch.

If you have another relay the same size you could try to replace it to see if the current one is bad.

Sounds like your turn signal switch is toast. Full 12V power runs through there first before being switched to low beams, hight beams, and fogs. Everything goes weird when the turn signal switch goes bad. Not too difficult to replace.

I tried different relays but no luck. So maybe it is in the switch. Or I was thinking it could be the ground for the relay causing the switch to not to complete circuit.

Replace the switch. Almost guaranteed that is the issue.
