Stuck Wiper Nut Cover

So I went to swap my cracked covers on the wipers today but for the life of me they won't pull out. Tried different angles. Is there a trick to get them released?

The plastic wiper covers are hinged at the narrow portion. Get underneath the wide part with your fingernail and pull up. Once it raises up on the hinge pull the entire plastic piece away from the wiper. It should come right off unless it was previously glued on by someone.

Glued? Yeah, maybe that's the case. No issue in popping it up, it's getting it off the pivot that's the issue. May have to destroy it just to get it out. I take there is no easy way to remove the pin it pivots on?

I would think you would be better off breaking the old one off vs trying to press out that pin

F1LOCO,

Could you post a close up picture of your wiper? I had similar problem before and did a MacGyver trick to get off the stubborn wiper arm. Thanks.

UPDATE: I think the previous owner replaced it and the cover was "solid" around the pin. Hence the difficulty in getting it off, LOL. Managed to repeatedly use an angled pick and managed to get all the plastic bits out. The new OE cover did not even come close to fitting - wider but by at least 1/8" (Pic below). Just ordered a couple of new arms. Punch list is getting shorter. A few interior bits (roll bar and rear seats) and seals and it will finally be done a year later.

There are two different covers. And two different style (width) arms.
