Need some ideas for 911 G body Dash

PO cut out the ashtray section to install some bass/stereo controls, also messed with the din to get a later year radio to fit. Looking to go back to stock functionality with the Porsche classic radio and a functional ashtray

Should I be looking for a new metal dash if that exists to purchase?

Easy piece to fabricate at home with metal scissors. Sheet metal screws and some body panel bond.

You can take it to any body shop and pay for it.

And I'm sure you can buy a piece of dash from the junkyard, fit it and weld it grind it and body fill it. to make it perfect.

How type A are you?
What is your budget?
How original do you want it?

Opportunity for a custom cell phone mount where ashtray was?
Also I’d be awfully tempted to leave the gauge area sans leather and paint it body color.

The PO appears to have left out a softish vinyl covered overlay that matches the glove compartment cover in your pic. You can surely get one from a Porsche junk yard and it will provide you with the correct and radio opening location. It’s item #31 in the PET below which you should download from Porsche.com if you have not already done so.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1703728318.png

In my RST build I chose to eliminate the radio (some will cringe) in favour of more important switches.

As I recall, removed the black vinyl cover, glued in a thin wood piece into the radio cavity, smoothed it out with body filler and then recovered with perforated leather.
Hope this helps.
