alternative sources of parts

Anyone know if the CDI box #0227300 (SCs and 930 at least), and the coil #0221 121 001, (again SCs and 930s at least), were used on other makes of cars? EG BMW, Merc, VWs etc.
Trying to find a couple of 2nd hand units as spares to carry around for the track car.
Thx
Alan

Coil was used on a few other brands like Alfa Romeo and BMW. You can find the info in this Bosch catalog.

Not the same box, but:
NSU Ro 80
Porsche 924, 914, 911, 930, 904, 908, 917
several Audi 100 from the 70ies (special order named "short distance package")
Maserati Ghibli
Lamborghini Urraco and early Countach's
IURC Ferrari Dino???
some Dolmar & Stihl chainsaws

Search with CDI doesn't succeeds, you have to search for "HKZ" = Hochspannungskondensatorzündung (engl. high voltage condensator ignition, german for "CDI")

Thanks guys - that is what I am after.
Yes - tried searching under both coil and CDI box #s, and they just keep coming up with Porsche.
Thanks - will chase up.

Keep in mind that the CDI coils are different to normal (transistor) ignition coils: The CDI coils work mainly like a transformer. They won't get loaded with energy.as those from common ignitions. The spark energy on a CDI comes from the CDI box, not from the coil.
Some common ignition coils will also work on a CDI, but not vice versa...

That coil is a bit of a rare beast - mainly Porsche application. Some coils are on literally hundreds of different cars. Not this one :-)
