You mean the engine compartment, rather than the "trunk." Yellow is usually the starter circuit. Hopefully, someone else with the correct wiring diagram for a '79 Sporto will jump in here. If not, hook up a voltmeter to the connector and see if you get 12volts when you crank the engine. A branch of the yellow wire goes to the fuel pump relay, and IIRC, a branch of the yellow wire also connects to the Sportomatic relay.
