Pelican Website
Ever since Wayne sold Pelican there's been continual issues on the website.
I've been on this board since 2005. Now, after I've logged in, I can't post a question on Cars for Sale site on Pelican. Says "you do not have permission to access this page". Sent several messages to Pelican with no response. ZERO Anyone have the same issue? Maybe it's just me.

I couldn’t log in earlier today. Neither on my phone nor desk top.
Said, “thanks for logging in” then right back to the log in page. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I don't think you can respond to posts in the cars for sale section by design. IIRC, its so that there's no spam or something for the seller's thread.

My issue with the website is more about content. Specifically the general lack of parts descriptions. Let me admit that I'm only a few years into owning and building my 911, so I'm not a top expert here. But I am in several other types I own, including being one of the most knowledgeable Classic Mini Cooper guys around. So I understand mechanical things better than most.
Yet when looking for parts or ideas on upgrades here, more often than not there is just a part number with not even a sentence to describe the item. The lack of information has repeatedly kept me from having any confidence in making the purchase.

Hey Sean,
Where are you sending these messages? I can't find any technical support emails from your registered account/email address. Feel free to message me directly with any questions you may have. As far as the classified section goes, it is true we've had to put some serious restrictions on because of continual scammers coming in and causing a havoc. It's unfortunate but that's the current situation of things. I've passed this information onto our Catalog Department. They are constantly expanding the site and making adjustments to each apart individually. If you have a certain article number in question, feel free to contact us and we will work to make a correction. |

Here I searched 1989 carrera air filter at the top of the 911 tech forum page and this is the search result. How the heck do you sell any parts? I can search for anything and get the same page. Heck, I can't even sign in with my iphone with the same name and password that gets me signed in here.

Like Jamal and others, I've been frustrated by the changed catalog and website in general. I have a hard time finding what I'm looking for. There are parts that I know are available, but can't get to them through the menus or search terms, so I'v looked them up on other sites, then put that part number into the Pelican site. At some point, I'll just buy from that other supplier.
In addition to lack of description, and therefore lack of confidence in the parts listed, there are almost no posted reviews, INCLUDING one that I wrote two weeks ago! I said it was a poor quality part, even with the Porsche brand/tax. (EDIT: correction, My review posted sometime in the past week) And sometimes I have clicked on the car I own, and it took me to catalog pages for Volvo!

I too have the same issue with clicking on my car's profile (1987 Carrera) and it reverts to the BMW catalog. I eventually get there but it takes a special series of clicks to get it right. I'm a fan of Pelican and just wanted to provide the feedback.

It’s not the same as it was, but for research the data is still there. So there’s that. Unfortunately, yet fortunately I have found other sources for parts with more competitive pricing and faster shipping.
