912-6 vs 1.9 Benton Build

Correct he would be responsible for the entire build. I had a great chat with him and I am starting to lean in that direction. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
"There's no replacement for displacement."
I think the price for a Benton build is, "I gotta have it and don't care what absurd price you charge" |
'68 912 with a built 1750. It beat a lot of 911s at AX.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1705971881.jpg If it was me I would pump the 912 motor up to 2 liters. Easy to get a fun 150+ hp out of it from what I have heard. |
While most of us have our 911 swiss army knife (one tool to do many jobs), the OP appears to have the funds to have an assortment of specialty knives. I've never driven a Benton car but I know a few people who have one and they say it's a special experience. Different compared to their 911s, but amazing in a well balanced "slow car fast" sort of way. You car take it to 10/10ths in a canyon without achieving speeds that would get you in trouble. Also, they're sought after, so if you want to try a different experience you'll be fine financially.

Late to answer
I just saw this thread. I’ve owned two stock 912s and presently a 911, all in the SWB category. I think a bumped up 912 is the perfect compromise. Sawing between gears in a 912 is more fun and , excuse me, but takes more skill to be honest. Keeping small displacement cars at the edge is very pleasing.
