Also none of the throttle linkage stops are functional, ie the throttles are not contacting the stops, two of which are broken off and the others don't engage. How critical is this?

The throttle stops prevent the throttles from cutting into your throttle bodies.

Yes applied heat to the thermostat body and the shaft moves in (toward front of car) when it is heated so makes it leaner. The pull arm that mates to the rear of the throttle body has lost its bushings and it was binding the entire throttle assembly keeping it from hitting the throttle stops. The broken one stop . . I have come up with a easy fix . . now how to get those new pull rod bushings in without removing the entire injector assembly . . not sure its possible!

In the other thread I think you stated you were following Rice's how-too, which if i remember correctly has a great section on setting up the stops. Follow that, I did, takes time, but worth it. Has this car sat for a while?

yes car has sat for a while prior to my purchase. In reading I think the MFI pump might have stuck pistions . . so I will work my way up to that point as I have to set up the whole system and make sure every spec is correct.

Pull the side cover off the pump, it's pretty easy to check for correct movement of the pump plungers as you spin the pump.

There are a few old school threads from some very experienced users who have soaked the pump in berrymans..search berrymans mfi.

It might be better to send it off too have it rebuilt and recalibrated. It could save you quite a bit of time. At least you would have a base starting point. Normally you send the pump and injectors.

You can change the bell crank bushings without pulling the throttle bell crank by using the plastic bushings. Slit one bushing and then slip it on the shaft, the end bushing just slides on, no need to remove bellcrank from the shaft.
