Gear Shift Lever Rotation

Hi,

What can cause the gear shift lever on my 72' 911T (915 transmission) to rotate counter clockwise and then back to the original position? I'm able to do this manually. It's annoying when shifting gears. I hope I'm explaining this issue correctly.

Thanks,

Gear Shift Lever Rotation

On the 915 shifter in my 85, the shift lever was epoxied into the machined ball-pivot in the housing. When the epoxy failed, the lever would rotate when shifting into fifth. I drilled and tapped it for a screw to secure it. Not sure if a 72 is similar. —Dave

That's what happening in my case. The shift lever would rotate when I shift into 5th or reverse.
