CART Laguna Seca pics (big pics!)

Finally got around to reviewing my pics from Sunday's CART race at Laguna Seca.
Attached are two of my favorites - Carpentier's donut on the Corkscrew after winning the race and Bruce Canepa's Porsche 917/10 - what a beauty!

Nice pictures. I watched a little on the tube Sunday as the kids slept. That first picture of Carpentiers donut (180) put him face to face with his team mate if I remember.

Dan:

Yeah; after the 180 he was bumper to bumber to Paul Tracy! I'll send one/two of those pics later - very interesting to see such a shot on the Corkscrew (or anywhere)!

K911sc Yes, thought that might be him as he is a big sponser right. The beard, sunglasses and hat should have made easier for me to recognize him. I have only seen him once in person years ago. Doesnt look like whats on my sauce jar at home at all.

I watched Paul Newman race what was stated as his last professional last race on Speed a couple of weeks ago. In the World challenge GT catagory , I think. His Age was either 76 or 78. Racing keeps you sharp, I guess.

I definitely recognized Paul Newman (must be dating myself). Although a nice guy, he is notorious for not liking to have his picture taken. Last year at the same race my wife sweet talked him into a pic and I took the shot but it didn't come out - she was pi**ed for 6 months! Saw him again this year at the Newman/Haas pit; I think he's around 76 now.

Funny, people who have made there whole lively hood based on "public exposure" will get mad at having a pic taken...we made them what they are...

well enough of that

And after a few laps, here's Paul's borrowed Brumos car being uncerimoniously towed back to the paddock. (The accident wasn't actually his fault, I found out later).

CART - a few more pics

A little OT, but more pics of Carpentier and Tracy after Carpentier's post-win donuts. They were going about 20-25mph at the time. Also a pic of Fernandez pit crew in action in qualifications - love those colors! Also a shot of Camathias pit in action on race day...
