Removing drive side rear engine tin, questions... Please help
I am nearly done stripping my 84 3.2 engine down to a long block. The last piece to come off is the driver side engine tin on the back of the engine. I have a few questions:
1. How do I get the grommet that has the wires for the three sensors out of this engine tin, the grommet is rock hard. 2. Do the position and speed sensor wires just unbolt from the sensors, or do I need to remove the whole assembly? 3. Do the wires on the cylinder head temperature sensor just pull off, or do I need to remove the whole sensor? Thanks!! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1707615476.jpg |
The grommet just pops out.
Check out Franny's videos. She goes through all this and removes a lot of guess work https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7iJaOr-pXF0 |
I’ve been watching her videos quite a bit, I didn’t see her pop out the grommet…

Stick a pocket screwdriver past the outer edge of the grommet and pry it out. Unbolt the sensor bracket. You can set the clearance on reassembly. The temp sensor needs a 13 or 14mm thin wall deep socket with a lengthwise slot cut out of it with a disc cutter, so it goes over the sensor and allows the wire loom to stick out of the slot. Early are 13, later and replacement are 14.

the socket tool John W. is talking about looks like this..you can use od not expensive socket...
to put back the rubber grumet spray wd40 on it ,it will slide in nicely.. Ivan http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1707636037.jpg |
You can also modify a 13mm wrench with a slot as John did on the socket ..
