Motor Mount Console Carrier - broken tabs - need pics of how it is supposed to look
Edit: I have a 1984 Targa
I'm not entirely sure what this thing is called. 'Engine Bracket' 'Motor Mount Console' or? In any case, the tabs that bolt to the front engine tin have broken off, see the picture below. Can someone post a few pictures of how these tabs are oriented on the engine bracket? And, in particular, some close ups of the left and right as they are bolted on to the engine tin, so that I can see how they are oriented? I'm going to have new tabs welded on, and I need some good pictures of what they are supposed to look like and how they fit with the engine tin. Thanks!!! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1707616485.jpg |
Not sure if this helps. Looks a little different. This is from 82 SC. What year is yours?

As Dave has shown, you have yours upside down. The extra bracket over the mount is to hold the exhaust. You can't see the engine tin mounts on my 1975 - neither on Dave's.
If you have a magnesium block, make sure you check the threads in the block for this rear engine mount, as this is a known weak point for these. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1707665558.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1707665558.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1707665558.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1707665558.jpg |

If you can mock it up on the engine with the tin you can tell exactly where they should be mounted. You may even see a bead left from where it was mounted before. |

Why not just weld the original tabs back in place? A few spot welds and you're good.

I'll mount the console and front tin and then screw the tabs in where they go. Then my welder can get it right. Quote:

I then sent it off for powder coating and it came out great. Thanks for the suggestions! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1713541681.jpg |
