The casual use of these kinds of cars never ceases to amaze me here, this F40 was in the spectator parking area.

Probably a good year to skip it anyways, I think the weather kept a lot of entrants away and the classes didn't have anything that really wowed me but that's just me. For example how do you make a Porsche rally car class without having the 959 Dakar present?!

I’ll be honest I really enjoyed the Friday PCA event two years (2022) ago. The corral was all separated by type so all the 996 parked by themselves, 993, 964,914 etc. When we registered with PCA they sent a purple tag that told the parking volunteers to send you to the purple lot. Easy peasy. It was great because you could check out all the other cars just like yours. Great for pictures too.

In 2023 they were supposed to do the same we had a green tag for our 993. But early on they gave up on the color coding and just parked all the cars in order of their arrival. Seperating by type 911 went out the window. Just a big Porsche parking lot.

Curious how it happened this year?

Just a big mess again! Would be cool to have it by "era" or at least air/ water cooled but I think it's just too much when there's that many cars. I'm just glad they haven't messed with the formula of the event unlike the concours.

Interesting article here explaining the rift between Hagerty and RM, this year seemed off.... now I understand why!

I spoke to PCA folks there and also read there were about 800 cars registered for the corral in both 2022 and 2023. All the cars enter single file through a single gate then turn off the entrance road into there respective areas. Could not be easier to separate them. Pre registering and being given color coded mirror tags made it foolproof.

Not sure how the 2024 registration was worded but the 2022/2023 online PCA registration pages stated all the corral parking would be by type. So we drove 5 hours and spent a lot of money for the weekend only to show up and find a mess.

How was the concours changed?

Around the time Hagerty bought the concours in 2021 a couple people from RM Sothebys left to form Broad arrow auctions which Hagerty bought then moved into the Ritz where RM used to be. RM was pushed down the road into a tent like Gooding has been then they pulled out altogether in 2023. The owner of RM decided to get back at the Hagerty folks by starting Moda Miami on the same weekend this year. This may be anecdotal but after about 10 years coming here I really feel like there wasn't anything particularly spectacular on the green this year.

Sorry I read the article I thought you meant there were physical changes to the concours this year.

Hard to believe it's almost that time of year again, I've registered for the corral however 912E #1328 might be there with a for sale sign! I've been on the lookout for an older wagon of some sort and a few recently for sale have caught my eye. All of my old cars are two seaters and I'd like something we can put the dogs in and go for a family road trip. I find myself not driving the Porsche as much any more and I think someone else out there would appreciate a turn key car (with some patina of course!)
