Alternator wire rubber boot

Hi,

Does anyone know where I can purchase the electrical wire rubber boots that go on the alternator terminals? Mine have deteriorated and would like to find a replacement.

Thanks

If I recall, a smaller distributor cap 90 degree rubber boot will work well, unless you can locate the "factory" part in the Pelican catalog. It proves the old adage, "never throw anything away."

Bill,

What size did you order? Also, were you able to fit these over the existing wire connectors, or did you have to cutoff and install new terminals?

Thanks,
David

For the price, I bought a few of several sizes.
Being rubber, these stretch over the terminals - with a little Vaseline and gentle persuasion.

You can get something close from VW online store Wolfgang International. I found an alt/gen rubber boot, item 113971 for $3.95 a piece.

Assuming you disconnected the battery while working at the back of the alternator when would the boot be needed? Maybe if the ground wire came loose and swung over to the hot lead, that's about all I can think of.

To keep dirt and grime out.. possibly minimize corrosion. Agree that a boot is probably not needed.
