AC removal and smuggler box holes - Question(s)

1986 Coupe originally with AC -

Quick questions about smuggler box holes and plugging. Below is a photo of the three holes I am wanting to seal up:

1. Can I plug from the top (photo 2 - yellow arrow)
2.
3.
4. Already have the Rennline cabin cover, not installed yet.

Second photo:

My question is plugging the hole from the smugglers box (yellow arrow) will this affect the air flow for the fresh air option?

The piece in the photo I am holding (red arrow) obviously connects the smugglers box to the hoses/vents.

Will I still get "fresh air" if I plug the hole marked by the yellow arrow? Not sure where "fresh air" is coming from.

My concern is I do not want to lose the ability to defrost have heat and the more I study diagrams and manuals I seem to get further and further from the answer.

I am a windows driver almost 100% - so fresh air from the contols/dash isn't a huge must...as stated just don't want to lose the ability to have defrost/heat, or have this affect it in some manner.

AC is sold and gone forever I just want to cap/plug what holes are left and I don't need.

Have nearly 20 threads open, with varying questions and answers of AC deletes, any insight is appreciated - or guidance to the 1 thread I have missed (as is always the case) with the answer...

Thanks-

Erik

Alright, standing back and having a drink I would guess the fresh air comes from the ventilation intake by the windscreen. Duh?

Question I still have: Can I block/seal the holes in my original post with no issues?

Had to take a break, stand back, and have a beer to explain this better and have it make sense (mostly to me)

On non factory ac cars arrow #2 is closed with a large rubber plug.

Yellow arrow is closed with a large cardboard plug

You may gain some information by looking at the PET for non ac parts diagram. Rob

Have been looking at PET diagrams, just not seeing anything.

Worst case I'll just fabricate something.

Looks like sealing it completely will not hurt any air flow, etc...my original concern.

Thanks though for the response!

Thanks-not sure above fits 1986 but did find the cardboard cap on ebay.

Really appreciate it!

I used some pvc plumbing plugs from home depot, painted flat black & glued them in.

Heres an interesting worthwhile link:

Appreciate the link. Hadn't seen that one - very informative.
