Only right fog light dead. Help to debug.
 

So I was checking the fog lights and looks like only the right side fog lights are it lighting up. The driver side left one works great and comes on with the switchs etc.

I have a 1987 Porsche 911 targa. What could it be? Since one works we can be sure the switch and the relays and fuses are fine. Any help is appreciated and will earn a couple of cold ones from me.

I didnt. debug too much since a cut ac blower wire distracted me. Will check again to now. Any clues or starting points much appreciated.

Do you have 12v power at the non working fog light ? Have you checked that with a volt meter?

It’s easy to have the Right fog lamp connector get snagged and come undone when removing stuff like the jack, spare tire or any other work….unless the wire that was cut was actually the fog lamp and not the ac blower.
My fog lamp terminals/contacts were very corroded from old cracked seals when I replaced the glass lenses, so keep that in mind too.

Come lose. You might have a point here. I was debugging and saw that the ac blower wire was cut loose and was fixing that. Maybe I should check it after I fix the ac blower?

Good lord and yes. I fixed the ac blower and my fog lights now work?!!?!!

I have no clue why and how.

That was easy. My ‘77 fogs (brown wires) are on separate circuit w/no AC. There’s a parallel set of wires for each side of fogs that connects Left side to right, the Green/White comes from the fog lamp switch, the Yellow/Black non connected plug may be for Right headlamp. Gotta get yourself a wiring diagram.

Since I don’t have an ‘86 I can’t comment on the proper wiring for the AC blower (or fogs) which may draw plenty of amperage for each, the fuse might eventually be overloaded or worse start a fire.
Someone did a chop job, I’d get that circuit back in proper order and not use both fogs and ac blower at same time for a prolonged period.

Got it. Noted. I’ll trace this out and get it on its own circuit once I gain some experience on where the wires go!! Strange it is indeed
