Advise please on narrowing wheels.

I have 8" & 9" wheels that I'd like to have narrowed down to 7 & 8's.
Does anyone know a shop that will do that kind of work?
Thanks!

Would it not be easier to sell these and buy the size you want? Most tend to want wider wheels.

think the wider ones are worth more$$? shame to cut them. Finding 7s and 8s not that hard.

I'm having problems locating 17" fikse wheels in 7 & 8" widths. If you know of some please point me in the right direction.
Thanks

I JUST chatted with the President of Fiske today at the open house tour in SoCal, and he was quite proud of the 3 piece construction. Call them directly, and know the dimensions including offset you want. (And what you currently have)
their toll free # 1-877-856-7311, his name is Brant.

If they don't have a solution, sell them and buy what you want.
Cutting and rewelding is a last resort I'd think.

If your Fikses are the three piece wheels, like the FM10, and you know how much and where you want to change the rim widths, you can buy and swap the wheel halves yourself to achieve the wheel width and offsets you want. The hoops come in 1/2" increments. You can buy the hoops from Fikse in Canada, but for myself locally I got them from https://shop.wheelflip.com/collections/fikse-outer-lips in Los Angeles. The material is a 6061-T6 spun forged aluminum, then heat treated after spinning, and fit, finish, and machining is basically indistinguishable from the original Fikse hoops. They mentioned there was a period of time they were supplying the hoops to Fikse.

Then just rebolt the new rim halves together and use
DOW DowSil 832 to reseal the wheels and you're done.

Top tip from Steve W. Especially the sealant. Be methodical applying that.

Steve, did you do the lit show or shop open house visits this weekend? (I noticed the PV in your sig)

Thanks for the tip Steve, unfortunately I don't have enough confidence in my abilities to do that kind of work. Maybe I can find someone that can. Incidentally I bought one of your chips a few years ago for my SC. It works great & Hasn't given any problems.

Hey Jake, no I was at an autocross this weekend. Those take precedence for me over C&Cs and open houses, and they typically overlap on the same schedules, so I'm rarely at those. Buy maybe one day!

Eclectic, I think you might find some local wheel rebuilders/repair shops by you that can help and do the work for you. Maybe figure out the offset of the rim hoops you need, order them and have them do the work?

Maybe try Independent Wheel. I know he used to keep a variety of three-piece wheel parts in stock and might have the parts you need to assemble a set.

Independent Wheel - supplier of 3-piece wheel components for Kinesis, Fikse & HRE

Call Fiske, they might have contacts for you in your area...
(And they probably won't recommend anybody that's at all sketchy,)
