69-73 Floor board question

I've got a 1972 911 T Targa and the last time I had it out and about the throttle started sticking. Scary, as always.

I originally assumed it was wear in the bushings of the pedal cluster, so I ordered some from Pellican, but then discovered that the issue was actually the linkage from the gas pedal to the pedal cluster was rubbing on the plywood floorboard and getting stuck.

I'm pretty sure my father made the floor board and it is starting to crack and flex, so I bought a Rennline aluminum to put in. My question is that there is some hardware that goes behind the clutch and brake pedal that I'm not exactly sure how it goes in or what it is actually good for.



The floorboard seems to be pretty stable without it, the hooks up top and the bolt in the bottom seem to keep it in place well.

Should I try and get this in because it's important? Or put it in the pile of 911 parts that seems to keep growing?

Yes it's important. That's what determines the clutch stop. It is adjustable up and down. The clutch pedal shaft stops at the rubber pad. The part shown is not oriented correctly. Rotate 180 deg. There is also an adjustable throttle pedal stop in that panel. Keeps you from over stressing all those connections in the linkage.

On my 72 I had to replace the bell crank throttle bushing too . . mine was completely gone. It is very difficult to get to but check it just the same. It is the bushing on the throttle arm between the MFI pump and throttle bodies on the drivers top front of the engine.
