Buying new return line for an 86 3.2 -
Buying this and was wondering if others have ordered and had any fit issues??? (By coincidence was watching Heidi and Franny's channel and they stated they had issues with the Porsche return line):
![]() I am also ordering the Griffiths fuel line set. I am on a time crunch as we just found out my wife's position has been upgraded and we are about to move. Engine is out and ready to be put back in... So, just wanted to verify the return line from Porsche will fit or if others have had issues as Franny did in her install video. Thanks! Erik

I installed this line about 8 months ago on an 85. No fitment issues. What issues did Franny talk about?

Erik, every time I see your user name, I feel like it would suite me very well as I got caught at that exact speed (120mph) last October and "fell" for six month without wheel. Driver's license is gone until mid-april. Can't wait to get it back.
I wonder what you guys would go through for the same speed in the US. License are withdrawn for so long too? Sorry for the digression. ;-)

![]() Sorry about the license. I have lived in Germany quite a few times and France was tough to drive through, especially on the motorcycle. Of course there are worse countries with very slow limits and so many cameras...but, again, sorry about the license. Between you and me I think there are too many variables state to state and of course the legal system itself (good lawyer, no infractions previous, etc...). Europe and other areas it seems to be cut and dry. This speed (or infraction) over and this is the penalty. Here in the states it seems it varies...again, for the listed above reasons. Living in Texas I am spoiled (by US standards) as generally the speed limits are pretty high. But, when I travel to the mid west (Iowa is soon to be my new home) I know up there the limits are different and also know they take high rates of speeding a little different - as I grew up there. So, sadly my friend, my answer would have to be "it depends" - and I hate that answer personally. Honestly, it might be an interesting thread starter for others to chime in from different states and countries...in fact, might actually be educational for those of us who drive in different countries and states. All of this is my personal take - and believe it or not the only ticket I have received, in 40 years of driving, was going just 4kmph over in Germany years ago...as you know when you get that note in the mail and your photo on paper. Ohhh, I don't miss the cameras over there! In the end I can say if a driver with 3-4 previous infractions was in court for excessive speed and the next person was in the same court, with no previous infractions, there would probably be a very different outcome. Personally, I don't see it as cut and dry as Europe. Good or bad, not for me to say. Hope this novel I have written in response helps a little...waiting on a huge list of parts so for the moment have too much time on my hands ![]() All the best! Erik

Hey Erik, thanks for this detailed answer! As you said, here in Europe, at least in France, it is "cut and dry". This was my first license withdrawal in 40 years of driving, among which 35+ years of Porsche driving.
They even took my car and kept it for a week. Had to pay to get it back. Macron needs money. It's pretty hard now in France. Was only doing 120mph on a very long straight that was empty. Actually I was lucky, because I was already slowing down when they checked my speed with laser gun. Thanks for the cheer up!

The metal part of the line doesn't go bad. I would take it to a hose shop and have them replace the rubber section with teflon lined hose that will not ever go bad. I had them use stainless braided hose with an outer sheath so the steel braid can't grind away on whatever it is touching.
It cost massively less then buying new hoses. If you are in SoCal I'd recommend Mesa Hose on 17th in Costa Mesa. When I went in I was in line behind a couple guys and he glanced past the guys in front of me seeing the mess of hoses in my hands and asked, "Porsche Carrera?" and had me throw them in a box with my name and number. You really have to look at them to see they aren't stock hoses.

Sadly, I had started to research refurbishing (local, Len from the forums)...But with the time crunch stated above I had to get the ball rolling. Again, thanks for the input! Erik
