Fuel return bung identification
Hey all,
I replaced the tired fuel tank on my 79 SC. An earlier fuel tank must have been installed previously, as my lines/tank did not have the threaded return my JP Dansk replacement tank does. I'm struggling to find an adapter to go from this male threaded end to a bung without buying a $200 line and snipping it off. Does anyone know the dimensions of this thread pattern? Or have a link to an adapter? Many thanks! Bung in question...

Belmetric and McMaster Carr will likely have adapters you need so long as you know what the thread pitch and diameter are.

![]() I came across this and must correct the email address provided above. I have retired from Auto Sport in Mass and moved to NH. I have a personal email address: len.cummings @ verizon.net Wrighteous- The return fitting for your SC type Fuel Tank is M14 x 1.5 Male Cone. Most of the 911 Chassis fuel system up until the 3.2 Carrera has this fitting size. Only on the 3.2 motor itself did Porsche go to M16 x 1.5. If you post or send me a photo of the fittings you have, I can help. I have been making Porsche Fuel & Oil Hoses and Lines since 1978 when my son Mark and I brought back the Metric components from our trip to Germany and the Porsche factory. I have an extensive inventory of Metric hose and fittings, and even make custom sizes when all other sources fail. I am happy to help. We need to keep these wonderful vehicles on the road for generations to come. Len

Many thanks for the responses everyone!
I went to a half dozen different auto/plumbing/supply stores and ended up finding an adapter that worked. I ran the car briefly, went for a drive, and it didnt seem to be leaking. I left the pan off just so I can inspect it this evening... If there is a leak, I'll reach out to you BoxsterGT! Thank you everyone that contributed!! |
