My Long Hood Journey-73 RS
About 18 months ago I had the itch to get a long hood. Long time Porsche owner and current Carrera T manual, 991.2 RS, and 997 GT3 owner. Being I am so OCD I needed a really nice base that I could make my own. Having one of the country’s best Porsche mechanics as a friend and being close in location was a huge impetus! After a long search a local car became available that was owned by a large Porsche collector where money was absolutely no object.
Car fit what I was looking for-no backdate for me! And one day, after finishing patients I got “the call’. The car was completely redone in 2012 with as an S/RS tribute car. Paint was done very very nicely. Car had zero rust. After obtaining the car I immediately took the car to Atlanta Porsche Classic to see about provenance of engine/tranny. Three weeks later it was confirmed that the engine and tranny were matching. Woohooo. Here is what I have taken the car to. The mag case was banked and will be redone and a fresh 3.0 block went in….temporarily. We are in the process of taking the 3.0 to a 3.73 with the following: GT3 RS 4.0 crank, Mahle 100mm cylinders, CP pistons, Rasant M130, and other fun stuff. Here is what I have done up to now. *Engine/Tranny Basically new 3.0 Sc block will be stroked to 3.73 New crank New oil pump Xteme Cylinder heads Mahle 95mm pistons and cylinders New rocker arms/LW Rods 46 PMO throttle bodies ECU-****ty Electromotive will be Motec M130 on new motor Patrick Headers MKM29 Loud muffler 2 in 2 out J West Engineering shifter with 2 inch raised shifter 915 Refreshed with new syncros *Brakes/Tires/Rims NOS Porsche OEM 930 turbo calipers SRF fluid Ferrodo 2500 pads Zimmerman calipers Refurbished Weidman 7X8 RSR rims Pirelli P7 reissues 205 50 VR 15 front and 225 50 VR 15 rear *Body/Suspension OEM RSR plastic fuel tank Antigravity battery Carbon RS Getty front bumper Bilstein RSR + new B8 insert with 15mm spindle OEM SC flares rear *Interior Heuer chronos OEM Recaros with Houndstooth 917 wood shifter Bill Rich vintage REPA belts Carbone Houndstooth Frunk Carpet ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Love your longhood RSR wheels and P7s. I have the same wheel/tire setup and can't wait to get them on my car.

Beautiful car and execution.
Is that Frunk carpet something custom made, or off the shelf. Looks like a square weave. Would you mind sharing the source. Thanks! Bill |

It is quite stunning. Had the pleasure to see the car and meet the owner at 24 Hr of Daytona this past winter. Graciously gave us a walk around tour and answered lots of questions. Love hearing that engine run...

Pretty car. Could you talk more about the carpet in the trunk? Can that be purchased or was it custom?
