77' 911S sat 1.5 yrs and now won't go into gear
I put my car into storage nearly 2 years ago, and today I tried to start it and drive. The car started ok, but it seems there is a problem with the 915 transmission or the clutch. When it isn't started, I can shift through all the gears just fine. If I start it in neutral, and then try to shift into a gear, it won't shift into any gear (there is a bit of grinding if I force it, but I didn't want to force it too much for obvious reasons). If I try to start the car when it is in gear, the car jerks forward - so I know it was in gear. Any ideas?

Clutch disc has rusted and is stuck to pressure plate/flywheel. U need to get the car to an open stretch of road, start it in gear, operate the clutch while driving, and it will usually brake free and return to normal operation.

Disc rusted to the flywheel. Common issue. Car off, engage 1st, start car, lurch, lurch on/off throttle a couple of times to loosen it. Make sure you have room in front so you don't hit anything.

Thanks much guys!! I was pretty sure that was the problem. I vaguely remember that once (maybe it was with a previous beetle - or my 911 - I'm getting old I guess), that this happened before and I fixed it by having my dad pull me with his truck when I had it in gear and it broke free. I'll try your solutions first, though. ;-)

Clutch disc is stuck to the fly wheel. Many ways to try and unstick it. Here's a few (not a Porsche but you'll get the idea).

Good chance with that sort of humidity (or wet outdoor storage) to cause the rusted clutch, pay attention to the condition and working order of the brake calipers and rotors as they can tend to seize too.
