Doesn't look factory. Almost looks like a coupler was used between the filter and the fuel line. Lefty loosey, right tightly. Wrench on filter, wrench on middle hex.

You should use a flare wrench on the bottom fitting while holding the one above it. Reverse flare fitting kinda like brakelines

It is factory actually. There is no coupler this is how the Mahale fuel filter is. It does end with a female nut

Your "brand new" filter is dated 2021.

O2 sensor connector, it will fall apart completely eventually.

That sounds like a nerdy useless comment. filters don't have short shelf-life.
there is nothing inside a filter other than an accordion filter... it;s not rocket science
you just wasted my time even to check your answer

You just need a couple of wrenches: one on the coupler to counterhold, another on the fitting at the end of the rigid pipe. Preferably crow foot wrenches. Go buy a set, they are essentials. Hope this helps.

The component with the yellow collar is the cruise control servo.

Just keep snugging it up until there is no wetness (fuel pump running and test with a dry paper towel as you tighten). With short hand wrenches it is hard to get it too tight, unless you are a gorilla. Use the squeeze the two wrenches together method to snug it up.

I've pulled off a few of those adaptors from old fuel filters. They are put on with Locktite or similar. Really tough to get off. But the new filter I used came with a new adaptor already attached.

ok, so far so good... not wet parts. all seems dry after about 50 miles driven after replacing fuel filter/accumulator.
will it last? I'm a bit paranoid and thinking I may need to replace also the S-shape metal pipes...ugh
