Does anyone measure pump volume?
Weber 40 IDT carbs, I see this discussed very little and wondering how often this is completed? The vial is available from Porsche, anybody else?

It's a standard measurement when diagnosing a driveability issue. Pump volume along with pressure. Problems would usually manifest themselves at WOT in higher gears.

Do you mean fuel pump or accelerator pump volume? You mention a vial, so I assume accelerator pump is what you're asking about? You can use a 1 cc plastic syringe (no needle) with the end glued or melted shut, and hang it down for measuring with a piece of wire. It's an important measurement and worth doing.

Pretty sure he means accelerator pump since he mentions the vial. And yes, I check mine.

Yes, thank you, accelerator pump volume. Is there an alternate place to source the vial? I am unable to find something cheap/simple/easy.
Also, should the squirt be directed straight down the carb throat, or directed towards the wall of the venturi's for better atomization? |
