Need help with a measurement please

Hi everyone,

Would a few of you with longhood cars be so kind as to measure from the leading edge of the hood to the lower pointy end of the Porsche badge for me?

I think the factory didn't have a standard, as I've seen anything from 161mm to 183mm. I'd like a few more data points before I drill my new hood. Measurements in inches will also be gladly accepted SmileWavy

Thanks in advance!

Thanks Thomas, I've been searching but hadn't seen those two threads. Much appreciated!

22cm from the edge of the hood to the hole locations for future reference.

Thanks everyone. The thing that motivated me to ask for measurements, is that there doesn't seem to be a standard, as I mentioned above. Knowing that the new factory hoods come pre-drilled for a badge at 220mm is certainly a good indication but doesn't explain why so many original cars have completely different badge placements.

For reference the pins on the underside of my new, authentic Porsche badge are 37mm from the bottom pointy end.

More information, unfortunately no measurements, but this shows the evolution of the emblem over time:

After much consternation I decided that I'd just go with what appears to be the Porsche standard for new hoods, 220mm from leading edge to holes.

Two reasons:

1) if I'd been smart and purchased a factory hood from Porsche, this is where the holes would have been anyway. (Note to self and others, don't buy Dansk body panels!)

2) There is a support brace welded in around the hood perimeter, and the holes need to be at least 205-210mm from the hood leading edge if the speed nuts are to clear this brace on the underside. If the factory sees fit to pre-drill at 220mm, then that has to be good enough for me.
