Gearbox Leak

Morning Gents,

I have a suspected gearbox oil leak, I`d like to check the level of oil in the gearbox itself, but have no idea how to. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

OK, so that means you have a 915 gearbox.

Unfortunately there's no real way of accurately testing the level of the gearbox oil. What you have to do is remove the fill plug from the side of the tranny and stick your finger in the hole. If you can feel the oil in there it should be OK. To top up add oil until it pours out of the fill hole.

Do all this with the car on the level.

Cheers
