Strut Rub

Has anyone had an issue with the left rear strut rubbing on the exhaust on a G Series 911 Carrera? The dealer is playing parts roulette, with my money, and cannot find the issue so far. They have replaced the motor mounts, but the issue was not corrected. Any thoughts? Thank you for any help or suggestions.

Could it possibly be an issue with "Boge vs Bilstein" struts? I'm sure someone else can chime in but I think you may need to verify what the car came with and what you're attempting to install

Check out this DIY tech article which might help:

I have an 85 Carrera that after owning it for 29 years and driving it at over 250 autocrosses, and almost a dozen track days, and 41 states and Canada, it now has 193,000 miles the struts have never rubbed once.

Either the dealership has idiot mechanics or you have some weird aftermarket exhaust.

Most dealers have no mechanics trained on old air cooled cars. They are lost when they can't find the OBD2 port to plug in the computer to have it diagnosis the issue.

Find another place to work on your car.

Yeah this is either hilariously bad motor/trans mounts, trailing arm bushings, an aftermarket exhaust or possibly heat shielding that's come loose. Whatever rub is there should be immediately apparent.
