Speedometer Help
been reviewing several thread but am a bit stumped.
('84 Carrera) A couple times over the past few months I would notice my speedometer needle fluctuating when I was at speed. Then, the other week it died, stuck on zero (and odometer and trip meter don't move). I assumed it was the speed sensor so just replaced it, with a URO part (91160620900), went out for a drive but nothing... I checked the speedo, where I connected both sensor signal terminals and the needle would move, I then did the same thing at the connection under the access panel behind the seats and got the needle to move again. Could the part be faulty or is it not installed right--I did take it out and reinstalled... Just confused. |
I've had a couple of people tell me in the past few months that they received DOA speedometer sensors. You can easily test them by passing a magnet across it. If you take it out and connect it to a meter you will see it go from open to close or, if you have it in the car with the power on you will see the needle move.
