Warm Up Regulator

1977 911S
Had the car in storage where I paid to have car started at least once a month who knows if they did. Now when it's back home when starting its seams to be starving for gas going in and out for a minute. Then idols fine. Is that from sitting too much? Or the Warm Up regulator needs maintenance? Or just run it awhile or maybe some seafoam? It was fine before storage.

Thanks,

Sam

My opinion: Get a fresh tank of gas and drive the thing for a week. Then do a full pressure test and post the results.

How long was it stored? Probably just ethanol contaminated gas gone bad.

Same advice as fanaudical: Either drain or run the tank nearly dry, then refill with fresh gas and a cleaner. I prefer "Chevron Techron Concentrate." Others liike Seafoam, BG44, etc. Drive it hard for about a week. See if it clears up.

Quarter tank (5 gal) is too low for storage plus the tank level sender and gauge are not that accurate. If you’re still driving around on a quarter tank, did the low fuel indicator light pop on?
Making stops and turns on a very low tank can cause the symptoms you describe as it struggles to pull up fuel.
Yes - get a full tank of gas (premium, it has more detergents) and add some fuel additive too.
Possibility that just sitting too long can produce some weird start up issues and these go away with more driving as I have found like surging or hunting for idle, sputter here or there.

Also, Stabil has to be somewhat diluted accordingly to the ratios of gas it treats. Some other brands will treat an entire 20 gal tank and recommend adding with fill up to avoid issues. Improper dilution rate of Stabil i noticed (lawnmowers etc ) tends to get sticky and burns differently after winter storage.

Use non ethanol fuel. I have a tank at home but last I checked, here, it was about 6 bucks a gallon. Most marinas have it too but you have to pack jugs.

It might help. Run out the old gas, then refill with new gas and add your favorite fuel system cleaner to the tank. Drive the snot out of it. Rinse and repeat. Then tell us how it's running.

When the tank is near empty, remove the strainer from the gas tank and clean or replace it. When was the last time it had a tune up, points distributor cap, plugs, etc?

FWIW, Bills Service in Lake Oswego has it at their drive-up pump. Near PIR, there is Demara Service on 9125 Ne M L King Blvd.

You might want to also check the points/distributor. When I store my '77 911S sometimes I have issues with the points/distributor metal pieces getting oxidation which creates spark issues. I just use a bit a sandpaper to clear up the oxidation and it runs fine afterward.
