A/C blower motor in smugglers box, relay with 15A fuse keeps blowing
 

still sorting out odds and ends with my dads old car which sat for 10+ years. the fresh air vents and heat work, but the AC system doesn't. before be stopped using it, he had a full R134A conversion done with all new AC lines installed. The system has since been evacuated over time.

im simply trying to troubleshoot why the blower settings behind the shifter keep blowing the 15A fuse on the relay in the smugglers box. is that indicative of a blown relay or a bad/seized fan or a deeper wiring issue. as far as I know, the AC worked perfectly before he stored the car without using it, so I'm assuming its just a seized motor. the motor doesn't kick on at all before the fuse pops.

ended up just being the blower motor was slightly seized. took it out, manually spun it, sprayed with contact cleaner and used some SAE 30 electric motor oil on the shaft and now its spinning perfectly. reinstalled, works great now.

That will work for a short time. Don't expect that is is long term fix. The motor will need to be replaced to cure the issue.

I figured and I’ll cross that bridge when I get there. The motor wasn’t used for like 10 years while the car was stored. I intend to keep it used on a regular so I will hope I can buy some more time with it.
