OEM 930 Front Oil Cooler
I stumbled upon a OEM Front Oil Cooler PN 930-207-050-02. I was a bit dirty and needed some TLC. I took my time and clean inside and out.
The process: MEK: I filled the cooler and let set for 24 hours. After draining the MEK had a brilliant blue-green color. Copper Sulfate I believe. Lacquer Thinner: 24 hours. Not any color or debris. I might have softened the internal debris. Ultrasonic Cleaner: Purple Power cleaner. 120 Fahrenheit for 4 cycles of 30 minutes. Overnight at 150 Fahrenheit. Three more cycles of 30 minutes. Water: I rinsed for 10 minutes turning and elevating into different positions and air dried with compressed air. Vapor Hone: I triple sealed the ports with caps and duct tape. Funny the cooler had Guards Red under some black paint. Same color as my car. I guess it is a perfect match. Mechanical Polishing: Used my Dremel tool with small fine wire stainless steel bristles. Before: ![]() ![]() ![]() After: ![]() ![]() I calculated the surface area of the trombone cooler and the 28 tube cooler and the 28 tube was twice the surface area. Good to know. I've never seen a surface-area comparison between the trombone and the 28-row cooler. Thanks for working that out.
I'm running the 28-row in both of my SCs. Bonus: Your used hoses look like they're in good shape. Nix
