HELP! Hub play after new bearing install??
Recently installed new wheel bearings and I’m 99% certain I didn’t damage anything. When I pressed them into the trailing arm I made sure to be touching the outer rim of the bearing, the retaining plate went on fine. I installed the hubs a few days ago with a hydraulic press, hub face down, and used a socket the size of the inner bearing race and pressed them in. Keep in mind the wheel studs were in the hub still. Face down on a flat 1/2” steel plate. Pressed in easy with the press however as soon as I felt ANY pressure at all I quit. They looked to be all the way in but honestly didn’t look super close. I got it all back on the car and there is quite a bit of play in my wheel. Is there a possibility I didn’t press the hub in all the way? Can I get it in the rest of the way using the axle/nut by torquing it down? Or did I flat out damage the bearing. I really took extra precautions installing them so I really don’t think that is the issue. But maybe I’m wrong. Any info helps. Thanks!
