Koni Strut Help

I'm working on replacing my Koni Strut inserts (911-34104210 part # on strut) on my '77 911. Bought new inserts from Wayne for the year and model.

I'm having trouble getting the insert out. There is a large flat plate (round) with a smaller threaded insert in the middle, that the insert rod comes up through. I was able to remove this smaller insert by unthreading it, but still can't seam to get the insert out. All the directions I have just say to slide the insert out. Is this a differant type of strut?? HELP my cars apart and the sun's out in Washington!!

Thanks in advance!!

Sorry I can't give you much advice but I have a related question...

Once you get your insert out and the new one in.....what do you use to tighten the new collar with if you don't have the Koni tool??

Today is your lucky day . . .

Help . . . in the garage

Large channel locks will remove the gland nut on top of the strut housing.

Thanks, I got the slotted brass nut off but can't budge the cap nut, it must have rusted in there. I tied wd40 & put some heat to it but still could break it loose. I just wanted to make sure that it was suppose to come off before I possable messed things up. I'll try again tonight. If anyone has ideas on how to force the cap nut off I need help!!

Thanks

I'm sorry . . . can you take a picture. The only 2 things I had to take off were the nut in the trunk holding the shaft, and the large nut (gland nut) that was threaded into the strut housing holding the strut in.
