Dash wire routing question.
 

If I wanted to run a small 16g wire from the boost gauge to the clock location, can I do that without going through the "frunk?"

Is there any communication between the upper dash and lower?

Yes just keep the wire away from your heat controls

Can't remember if there are any passthroughs in that general area. Basically in your photo, everything above the stereo and fresh air is the Frunk. The wires for the fresh air all route through the holes behind the ignition switch up to the frunk there. That is where I ran my wires for my AFR gauge that I replaced the clock with.

I pulled the boost gauge and don't have any access to the heater controls. Zero access to the lower dash from there. It's almost like its sealed .

based on the console, the AC, the stereo, there should be some pass thru's into the smuggler's box and up and around, typically you'll find someone has already drilled a hole, maybe there's an amplifier under the seat, it would have a large power wire running to the battery. The factory did a pretty good job of sealing the area between the frunk, where the back of the gauges are, and the passenger compartment.

I'm sure you can sneak a small diameter wire along the fins hoses that pass from the frunk into the passenger compartment.

no need to run thru the lid, there are plenty of wires that connect to the fuse box, relays and AC stuff that pass thru grommets around the perimeter of the lid, so you can pass thru there, and up to the gauges.

As others have stated, you'll find enough other pass thru's but most of the factory connections used a round electrical bulkhead connector, 5 to 6 pin, so you can't just pass through those holes. You will find others, but each car and each year have some changes to specifically where.

you'll do well to post some photos what what you saw when you removed the boost gauge, and what you see when you look behind that bolster along the lower dash. Also, it's a very easy task to remove the trunk carpet and divider that hides the heater/fan ducting, often there are off-white factory grommets in various places along there, also some near the brake master cylinder that would give easy access to the boost gauge area.

I couldn’t find any holes so I drilled a small hole for AFR gauge wiring. If you look down and too the right, through the clock hole, you can see an angle where you want the wire to come up. Then find the spot and drill from the bottom.
